Criss Cross Pattern

Happy Monday friends! I have a lovely new pattern to share with you today! I am sooo excited about this pattern!  I designed this quilt specifically with this fabric in mind.

Bluebirds on Roses is by Elea Lutz for Penny Rose Fabrics.  This collection is darling and is full of charming bluebirds and lovely florals!

When I was designing the quilt, I knew I wanted to use a fun vintagey block - the Granny Square! This is one of my favorite quilt blocks.  It really showcases those cute fabrics so well!

In addition to the granny square block, I added an alternating chain block.  This really gives this quilt a vintagey vibe, which makes my heart happy!

The great thing about this pattern is that the chain blocks are all pieced using strip piecing techniques.  So it may look like a lot of work, but using this technique saves so much time and so these blocks whip up in a jiffy!

One of my favorite things about Elea's fabrics are her florals!  This print I used for the border is my favorite! It is just darling and I love those pops of reds!

I quilted this with a really cute flower pattern called Ginger Flower, which is a favorite of mine!
It really makes a fun texture and I scaled it down just a touch to match the scale of the quilt.

Lastly, I need to talk about this gingham backing! Oh my goodness! This aqua gingham is EVERYTHING.  It just makes my vintage loving heart swell! It was the perfect print for this quilt now I want to back everything I make with this gingham! ;)
